How You Get Your Fresh Food

Each week Farmer Ted harvests our produce and loads up his truck for deliveries to our distribution site at the Garden of Union. The only way to get fresher produce is to go to a farm and pick it yourself!

Our distribution site is the Garden of Union on Union Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues in Park Slope, Brooklyn. This is where you come to pick up your share during the distribution hours for your share’s dates. Remember to bring your own bags!

Vegetables

Shares include a wide array of fresh, organic, high quality local produce over the 22-week season. Per week, the vegetable share averages:

  • 2-1/4 pounds of leafy greens

  • 6-1/4 pounds of "hard" veggies (squash, carrots, potatoes, onions, turnips)

  • in peak summer, lots of wonderful sweet corn!

  • herbs, chili peppers, tomatoes, garlic

More Good Things

Once the veggie share is purchased, you have the option of adding-on other shares to your contract.

FRUIT SHARE: 20 weeks of fruit, some of which is produced organically by Windflower Farm, and the balance of which is produced with minimal inputs (but not organically) by local farmers who use IPM techniques to manage their crops. The season begins with strawberries, rhubarb and cherries, continues with blueberries, peaches, plums and melons, and concludes with pears, apples and cider. Half shares are comprised of 10 shares delivered every other week (EOW) over 20 weeks.

EGG SHARE: We also offer egg shares to members who want a steady supply of fresh, tasty pastured eggs. You can choose one dozen, two dozen, or one-half dozen eggs per week.

MAPLE SHARE AND GRAIN SHARE: We are offering a bimonthly distribution of a-la-carte maple products from our neighbors at Davis Family Farm. Distributions will occur on these EVEN week dates: June 20, August 22, and October 17. A link to sign up for the maple share will be included your confirmation email after you register for your vegetable share. Members can order any item for each date; there is no need to order for all dates.
